No free parking, it is more of a restaurant
I called last week and was told that they were not taking reservations due to it already being a busy morning for them. So it may depend on the day and how much notice you provide.
It is a pay parking lot that is part of the Eau Claire shopping mall.
Such a gem of a spot with great history (you should go downstairs!). A few recent changes mean you can now have a mimosa with breakfast. Fast service and you can go for a great walk to Prince's Island after!
The cafe is right in downtown Calgary beside Eau Claire market in an old converted house. The atmosphere is very friendly and cozy and warm. We stopped by for breakfast on Sunday morning bright and early at 7:30am and had no trouble getting a table. Staff was friendly and service was prompt. Food was delicious and servings were large. Prices are fair.
Breakfast served in historic building built 1n 1886. Contains a museum full of history. The Food is freshly made with homemade roasted potatoes fresh fruit and a wonderful choice of egg dishes from omeletts/egg benedicts/egg burritos...delicious..gteat service..Located by Prince Island park so after eating canbyake a nice stroll around the park
Still a great place and great food!!
The food is decent and reasonable. The service is excellent. The historical photographs and artifacts in the basement are truly unique and well preserved. They were an unexpected treat to finish off our visit.
My new favorite breakfast restaurant in Calgary! Outstanding egg white omelet loaded with veggies, so good I came back the following day for more! Excellent coffee and quick friendly service! Only wish I would have found it sooner! After breakfast take a walk along the river and praise the Creator!
Great food and good service. A nice place for breakfast!
Best omelettes in town in a great setting. Served with great whole grain toast. Add a bowl of great fruit if you like or some of the great sausages if you have a big day ahead. Coffee is great and now you can even have an OJ and champagne with your breakfast. Old fashioned kind of breakfast and go downstairs to see get some historical background on this great place (washrooms are also downstairs). Also great for lunch - same menu and you can enjoy great sandwiches as well. Service is very personable and quick. Afterwards go for a stroll in Prince’s Island Park.
Cute little place, loved all the 19th century decor. Such a calming and nostalgic atmosphere and the food was amazing! Will definitely be back!
Great place to have breakfast anytime. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Check out the mini museum onsite.
Still one of the best breakfast places in Calgary. A great place to come for a business breakfast. Down home comfort food with friendly and attentive staff.
Very good service. Interesting old west style atmosphere. Good food.
Such warm hospitality. Stopped in for a cup of coffee. Swiftly received a mug, creamer, percolated bean water, and a smile. What generosity.
Whenever we are visiting Calgary we always grab breakie at 1886 Buffalo Cafe. Food is consistently good and the service is friendly. Feels like you are eating breakfast at a grandma’s house.
This place is great!! So many great menu options, and you can mix and match, or substitute items if you ask. Dani is our usual server and shes fantastic!! Thank you for all the great service over the years!!
Really good place to go for breakfast food!
YUMMY BREAKFAST BIG PLATES COOL SPOT
Had a great breakfast here in this very historic building.
The food is absolutely incredible and staff are so friendly! I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone travelling and looking for something with a local feel.
Best breakfast in Calgary! Even though they don't take reservations the food is well worth the wait. Not only is the food fantastic but the ambiance is very rustic & charming. This old historic landmark in Calgary has been well utilized as 1886 Buffalo Cafe. When you're there check out the old historic pictures downstairs and take in the huge buffalo heads watching over you as you enjoy your breakfast. You won't be disappointed! The service is always attentive & outstanding.
Always a great Breakfast, cool atmosphere
Despite their costomer services, our food was tasety. We asked for a clean fork and more coffee, and they ignored us. Their food worth trying, though.
Reasonably prices and hearty dishes which stick to the ribs (especially if you're in Calgary during the Winter season).Rustic decor.Plates cooked to order.Friendly and attentive staff.Pleasant atmosphere....and very good coffee!Seconds from near the Sheraton Downtown and near the Prince's Island. A must do for breakfast lovers.
Came here for breakfast and the food and service was excellent. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere inside. It's like traveling back in time
Its a cute small place with good food.
Great location and atmosphere in the restaurant. I would recommend this place for a sit down coffee but the was the food was a bit lower class. Was served an omelette with little bit too much mayonnaise and banana peppers inside which was odd in my books. The person I was with got an omelette with very spicy chilli inside which was also odd.
Very cozy place with friendly staff!
Awesome as usual. Deb and Dani are the best, and the all-in-poutine was exceptional. The best place for breakfast in downtown Calgary. Why would you go anywhere else?
A good breakfast :) I like the atmosphere and the place :) service was perfect
The food was pretty good and the portions were reasonable. The coffee and the service we had was not as great. The waitress made us seem like we were inconveniencing her everytime we talked to her. Other than the service it's a cute old little building with decent food.
This is a great breakfast place! Every time I stay in Calgary I have breakfast here. Even though you are in downtown you find this little cute house that makes you feel, you are in a little cowboy village. The service is fast and friendly and the food tastes good as well!
Nice spot . I had a very tasty breakfast . Loved the the decor and feel of the place , downstairs they have some old historic photos really nice .
I love places like this. All american breakfast all day. It's very old school, the coffee, the free refill, the dishes, that's why it's good.super delicious, very friendly waitress, great old house. five stars
Ate brunch here on Apr 19 (Good Friday). It was OK, pricey for what you get ($9ish for 2 eggs, potatoes and toast + $3 for plain coffee). Nothing fancy, very basic. Service was average, they were great with topping up the coffee throughout and even after our meal, which was much appreciated. Also, unlike OEB Downtown, there was no wait when we arrived at 11 and it wasn't jam-packed so it was a nice, relaxed place to eat with friends after a late night (and on a holiday weekend).
Good place for brunch. Great old time atmosphere. Brunch was decent and we didn’t even have to wait long for the food to come.Drip coffee was amazing!
Came here for breakfast and it was great. They had the usual breakfast fair with we interesting mexican inspired meals. The service was fast and the staff were very kind. The interior decor definitely fits the old time feel and contains very antique style accessories and photographs. The cafe is a few minutes walk to a park and is located in a great neighbourhood.
Pretty good food, service was decent
What a great place for brunch after a walk along the Bow. Great food & great service. A must stopðŸ‘
Good food but nothing amazing about it. The restaurant itself is a historic little place and so the overall experience was good.
This place used to be a real gem. The building is the same (very cool history), but the food and service have gone down hill and the prices have gone way up. It's just okay.
I have been going to this place since a child (over 20 years). Great breakfast spot with an extremely warm, and uniquely historical vibe. Menu offers something for everyone and the food is delicious. I would recommend the Blaisey Boy Sandwich. Hats off to the chef! Staff is super friendly and takes time to get to know there customers. Be sure to check out the basement which boasts numerous historical photos with commentary. Probably ranks among best longest running breakfast places in Calgary!
Ordered the breakfast burritos. First they forgot the cheese and it was evident they used watery egg whites for the scrambled eggs which would have been fine if they had stated that on the menu (then I wouldn’t have ordered it) but I was expecting whole eggs so that was disappointing. Only thing saving this place was the hash browns. Bread was average. Also hard to justify charging close to the same price as Alforno’s when it is far superior and all homemade. For breakfast in Eau Claire just go to Alfornos.
service was great and food was really good with reasonable price! love the "old-century" look :)
Very quaint and warm breakfast/brunch restaurant. The staff is super friendly and the breakfast was great, too! We’ll definitely be returning here soon.
Love the nostalgia! Great breakfasts
What a treat. Staff are friendly and the food comes out fast and tasty. You won’t leave here hungry that is for sure.
